Super 120’s Shadow Herringbone
How can classic formal materials be reinterpreted and remade into something modern?
This fabric was born as one answer to that question. Classic Base
We refocused on herringbone, one of the representative woods, and took the time to consider it.
Herringbone is attractive for its elegant and beautiful woven pattern made from arrow feather weave, but using it as is made it look a bit too classic to me, which was a challenge.
To reinterpret it while preserving its merits, I came up with the approach of "erasing the boundaries of the arrow feathers."
Rather than simply weakening the pattern, we added flannel fabric to add a slightly brushed texture, obscuring the very outline of the arrow feathers.
By blending the contours, the herringbone appears like a shadow in the design. Furthermore, marbled yarns of varying shades are used with yarn dyeing, adding depth through color layers.
By creating a sense of depth from both the structure and color, we aimed for a herringbone expression unlike anything before.
Because it looks like a fading herringbone, this material is named "Shadow Herringbone."
The texture was designed with the intention of wearing it through many seasons.
It has just the right thickness while also offering the smoothness and beautiful drape unique to Super120's wool. When tailored, it has a very elegant drape.
From a distance, it looks like a plain color, but depending on the angle and light, the pattern appears like shadows. We hope you enjoy these subtle changes.
In addition to the charcoal color lineup from last season, this time a new color—Shadow Herringbone—made up of navy × dark navy × black—has also been added.
By layering slight tonal differences within the same color family, the pattern appears with depth, resulting in a quieter and more modern impression.
If you purchased the charcoal trousers last time and wear them as a set-up with this new top, we would be very happy.

Draping Five-Tuck Wide Trousers
The design is a 5-tuck wide trousers.
With a distinctive structure featuring five tucks on one side, it is designed to be boldly weighted while appearing as a quietly flowing drape when worn.
The angle of the slant pockets on the sides is also synchronized with the flow of the tucks, making the tucks appear even more overlapping visually.
As a result, although structurally five tucks, the overlapping shading creates an expression that conveys depth like six tucks.
In fact, there was a time in the past when I used pants with lots of tucks like this.
I really liked the design, but over time I started to feel it was hard to match and too bold, so I naturally stopped picking it up.
When I reconsidered why I got tired of the shape I thought I liked, I realized it was caused by the "depth" of the tucks and the "strength of the statement."
The deeper the tucks, the stronger the three-dimensionality, but the more visual distinctions there are, reducing the freedom to coordinate outfits.
So this time, while intentionally increasing the number of tacks, each tuck was redesigned so that it appears shallow and flows naturally.
Following the same philosophy as nonnotte's previous two-tuck and shallow tuck pants, we aim for tucks that function as drapes rather than assertive features.
As you can see when you wear them, despite its appearance, the impression is very quiet and not unleashed.
Tucks are not exaggerated but serve as a guide to create the streamlined lines of the fabric. The rise is set deep, with a silhouette that drops smoothly from the waist to the hem.
While covering the body's lines, the texture and volume of the material are directly expressed in the sculpture. It has volume yet lasts a long time.
This is a proposal for new wide trousers, redesigned with my favorite design and now recreated with my current sensibility.
