ベルリンの壁が崩壊した時、 東ドイツ側に生まれたPeter Brunsberg氏は国立バレー団に入団すべく、 日々厳しい訓練に明け暮れる16歳の少年でした。
壁の崩壊と同時に社会主義の中での人生設計を全て白紙にされた彼は、 これから何をしたら良いかを考える中で、 20歳のときにテレビで見たアメリカの自転車の メッセンジャーに魅力を感じて友人と2名でドイツ初のメッセンジャーサービスを始めました。
当時はアメリカから入ってくるメッセンジャーバッグを使用していましたが、 見よう見まねで自分たちのオリジナルのバッグを作りはじめると、 既存のバッグの問題点を 改良したそれらが、 プロのメッセンジャーの間で評判となり、 今から22年前にBagjackが設立されました。
現在もプロのメッセンジャー向けのカスタムバッグを作り続けていますが、 色々な素材やデザインに挑戦する柔軟性が評価され、 ファッションバッグとしても 世界のセレクトショップで扱われています。
いかなるデザイン ・ 素材であっても、 プロのメッセンジャーが仕事の道具として使用できるスタンダードは決して譲らない姿勢が、 根強い人気の理由と言えます。
自身のバッグブランドのみならず、 Stone Island のバッグのデザイン ・ 生産指導、 ハリウッドの映画業界に向けたバックや小物の開発、 ドイツ政府 ・ 軍の SP 向け及び 特殊部隊向けの装備の開発、 ドイツの複数の上場企業をクライアントとしたバッグの設計も手掛けていて、 インダストリアルなデザイン工房としての側面が際立っています。
日本を含めアジアのいくつかの国でも確実に評価される Bagjack の商品ですが、 現在でもドイツの首都ベルリン市内で生産されており、 高価になってしまうこともありますが、 そもそもマーケットの需要にこたえられるだけの生産能力に欠けている点は否定できませんでした。
そこで、 バッグ類の生産に関して信頼できるパートナーと共同作業としてのブランドを立ち上げることになりました。
この BAICYCLON by Bagjack はベースの生地の規格からドイツ側と協議して、 Bagjack の機能性と DNA は保持しながらも、 リーズナブルに組み上げたカプセルコレクションです。
