“Inspired by the world” is one of the main philosophies we hold close to our hearts here at Sillage, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that for our first SS23 drop, we decided to release a collection directly inspired by the elite soldiers of Nepal, specifically their historic Gurkha trousers.
In 1815, after the birth of the alliance between the British Army and the Nepalese Kingdom of Gorkha, the Brigade of Gurkhas was established, and the Gurkha trousers quickly followed. These military pants, which were named after the Nepalese Gurkha soldiers who had earned the respect of the British East India Company in 1814, were created as a part of the official uniform adorned by Gurkha soldiers who had been recruited by the British Army.

The Sillage Gurkha trousers/Sillage Gurkha shorts we created for our SS23 collection have been cut in our beautiful wide and straight cut, and although our trousers/shorts haven't been designed to be used in combat, we didn't want to lose the identity of their inspiration so we made sure to include the traditional double pleating seen on the original trousers, as well as their iconic high, cummerbund-style waistband.

The silhouette can also be adjusted with the straps at the hem.
