But now that I think about it, I always keep it closed in the winter. I often wear a sweater over it. So, wouldn't a pullover be more suitable for winter? It doesn't have a front closure, so your stomach won't get cold (I'm in my late 40s and I'm always worried about things like that). So I tried making a pullover BD using various fabrics. The base is a Modified BD, but the pullover has no movement in the front, so it feels tight as is. We adjusted the pattern to loosen the waistband and create a looser silhouette around the waist. The products are delivered unwashed. The samples are sun-dried and measured. There is no significant shrinkage in any of the fabrics. The denim is 7.5 oz, a little thick as I wanted a shirt for "mid-winter". The thinner the denim, the less "denim-feel" we perceive it. 3-5 oz denim feels like "soft chambray." This is because chambray is a plain weave and denim is a twill weave. Plain weave has more crossings of the threads, so it feels stiffer, while denim is a 2x1 or 3x1 twill, which has fewer crossings than a 1x1 plain weave, so it feels more flexible. Fabric keeps its shape by the friction of the threads crossing each other.
