A VONTADE's classic Coal Mine Jeans are now in stock. These five-pocket pants were inspired by the jeans worn by coal miners in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The original 13.5oz denim is carefully woven on a shuttle loom using Zimbabwean long staple cotton for the warp and natural brown cotton before it has been selectively bred for the weft. The surface is not singed, but is given a special sanforizing treatment that gives it a slight twist when washed. It features a deep indigo color and a subtle vertical fade. The rise is slightly deep, and the wide, straight silhouette has a moderate amount of room from the thighs to the hem. Instead of the back yoke that is a feature of typical jeans, these jeans have darts in two places, vertically and horizontally, to create a roomy, three-dimensional fit around the hips. The design is original, while still retaining the image of the time, with original iron tack buttons, punched rivets, two-needle buckles, and narrow stitching.
