Description

We have received a new shipment of the Charcoal Linen Cotton Summer Jacket from WORKERS.
I've been making these lightweight summer jackets for the past few years: coveralls, tailored jackets, and forestier jackets.
I've made various kinds, and this year it's a coverall type.
I was thinking about what model to use, and then I remembered the P-47. It's a USMC 3-pocket coverall, and I made one before in Spring/Summer 2023.
When I first made it, I thought it was rather plain, but now that I actually wear it myself, I find myself reaching for it all the time. It's easy to wear anytime, and when you button the collar all the way up, it looks like workwear. When you open it, it has a slightly tailored look.
One thing that bothered me while wearing it was the metal buttons. Of course, that's part of what makes the P-47 distinctive, but I felt that if they were flatter, thread-attached buttons, they wouldn't snag as much, and it would feel more like a "normal, easy-to-wear jacket."
So this time, I used flat, four-hole buttons. The shape is the same as the P-47 I made last time, with three patch pockets plus an inner pocket.
Unlike the original vintage piece, the cuffs have a cuff-and-open design. This is convenient because I sometimes want to roll up the sleeves a little during the summer.
The material is a linen-cotton blend weighing just over 6 ounces. Until last year, I used 100% linen, but this year, due to exchange rate fluctuations, 100% linen has become too expensive.
When I was having trouble finding a suitable fabric, a fabric shop owner came up with this fabric for me by saying, "I tried replacing the weft threads with cotton."
To keep costs down, they ended up using a slightly sturdier fabric than 100% linen, which is actually quite good! It just goes to show that necessity is the mother of invention.
Indigo denim is the thickest at 7.5 ounces. The thinnest is black chambray at 5 ounces. Light chinos are somewhere in between at 6 ounces.
I previously wore this material in a different product line and felt it was something I could wear for a long time, so I added it to the lineup.

Authentic replica clothing born from an overwhelming passion for vintage wear.
WORKERS is a menswear manufacturer based in Okayama, focusing on workwear, traditional, and military styles.
Takashi Tateno, the representative who loves the unique atmosphere of vintage clothing, has researched actual vintage clothing.
We visit the manufacturers where the products were made and even the existing buildings to research their history and documents, using them as inspiration for our product development.
All products are made in Japan, and I understand the process myself.
Production is carried out only in factories equipped with specialized equipment for each stage of the process.
It's attracting a lot of attention not only from Japan, but also from globally recognized companies like J.CREW and INVENTORY.
