MITTAN proposes contemporary ethnic clothing based on the history of clothing and fabrics that remain around the world.
By reinterpreting flat structures and combining them with the inherent functionality of natural materials, we aim to create clothing that will last a long time, unaffected by fleeting trends.
The fabrics used are mainly handwoven from machine-woven textiles from various regions of Japan, such as Enshu, Banshu, and Bishu, as well as from Asian countries like India and Laos.
Our designers visit the weaving plants in person whenever possible and are also involved in developing their own unique materials.
Furthermore, we primarily use cotton thread for sewing, and natural materials for accessories such as woven labels, quality labels, and buttons, with sewing carried out at our partner factories in Japan.
In addition to conventional dyes, the dyeing process utilizes plants, indigo, insects, and minerals, and the uneven color transitions are also seen as a form of beauty.
We offer clothing that can be worn for a long time, without being bound by trends or the changing times.
At MITTAN, we actively handle repairs and re-dyeing, and we are committed to providing excellent after-sales care.
