MITTAN proposes modern ethnic clothing based on the history of clothing and fabrics that will be passed down to the world.

By reinterpreting flat structures and combining them with the inherent functionality of natural materials, we aim for lasting clothing that is not bound by the fleeting trends of the times.

The fabric mainly uses handwoven materials from machine-woven regions across Japan such as Enshu, Banshu, and Bishu, as well as handwoven materials from Asian countries like India and Laos.

Designers go directly to the station whenever possible and work on developing unique materials.

Additionally, we mainly use cotton thread for the sewing thread, and natural materials are used for accessories such as the weaving name, quality label, and buttons, all sewn at partner factories in Japan.

In addition to conventional dyes, the dyeing uses plants, indigo, insects, and minerals, and even the uneven color transitions are seen as beautiful.

We offer clothing that can be worn for a long time, regardless of trends or the times.

At MITTAN, we actively support repairs and re-dyeing, and focus on aftercare after purchase.
