A linen x cotton x ramie jacket dyed with Binchotan charcoal, by Calife JK.
This unique and richly textured material is made from a plain weave fabric blended with natural linen, cotton, and ramie, dyed using the traditional Japanese method of Binchotan charcoal dyeing.
The yarn is a blend of soft linen, durable ramie, and soft cotton. Furthermore, the dyeing process leaves its texture intact, resulting in a unique look with uneven wrinkles of varying sizes throughout, creating a distinctive appearance that combines a traditional Japanese feel with a vintage texture.
The fabric has a crisp, dry feel, but it's not too stiff, and it boasts excellent breathability and moisture absorption, making it ideal for Japan's humid spring and summer seasons.
This jacket features a rounded, slightly oversized regular collar, four buttons at the front, patch pockets with inverted pleats on the left chest and both hips, and attached cuffs, giving it a French workwear feel while exuding a refined air.
This jacket features a lightweight, unlined construction, and combined with the fabric's texture, it can be comfortably worn even in summer depending on the inner layers.
Furthermore, to match the high-quality and natural feel of the fabric, the buttons are made from genuine nut buttons carved from natural coconut, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail throughout the garment.
The garments are sewn in a factory in Yamagata Prefecture that specializes in high-end casual wear.
While many factories specializing in casual wear, including Okayama, are located in western Japan, factories specializing in dress wear are concentrated in eastern Japan, particularly in the Tohoku region. However, this factory is a valuable one, possessing the skills, equipment, and sensibility to adapt the meticulous sewing techniques of dress wear into casual wear.
