WORKERS' tool bag, a nostalgic item for our long-time customers, is back after a long hiatus. Main body: No. 4 canvas/approx. 23.5 oz Bottom: No. 6 canvas/approx. 19 oz Dimensions: Width at the bottom is about 31 cm, height 30 cm, depth 18 cm. The width tapers towards the top, so the opening is about 40 cm at its widest point. Handle length: Short 25 cm, Long 60 cm (long enough to be carried over the shoulder) There is an outer pocket on one side At first glance, it looks the same as the one we made before, but... The fabric, factory, sewing thread, name tag, and tape are all different. The main body fabric is No. 4 canvas. It is a fabric without selvedge. This is because, previously, we were so fixated on selvedge that it was "only made at this weaving factory." In fact, the factory we initially commissioned has already gone out of business. This time, the premise was that "the fabric is not selvedge and can be reliably sourced." On top of that, we aimed for something even better than selvedge. The problem then became the sides. If you don't use selvedge, your only options are to "fold" or "overlock and sew." Folding and sewing is obviously neater, but the difficulty of sewing is incomparably higher. So, after searching and searching, I found a factory in the town next to my father's hometown. The president of the factory is a big fan of sewing machines and squeegees, so we hit it off. Because of that, I feel confident entrusting the work to him. (The labor cost is quite high, though.) The folded part on the side acts as a frame, allowing the bag to stand on its own even when empty. Totes are definitely easier to use when they can stand on their own. The bottom is made of No. 6 yarn. A seam in the middle adds a design accent. Originally, the fabric was narrow, so I deliberately left in the technique to use selvedge in the triangular section (I've been told it's hard and difficult! And it costs a lot of money!). The sewing thread is thick polyester. It's surface coated to prevent twisting. The name tag looks the same as before at first glance. But in the past, it was printed on sheeting, and this time it's printed on coated fabric. The pattern stands out more clearly. I searched and searched and finally found a manufacturer of the tape. I went there right away and learned that they have an extremely hard and thick tape called "cotton rayon power loom tape." There are two types of tapes of the same width, one woven on a power loom and another on a different loom, and the power loom version is particularly thick. However, productivity is poor, and if they don't have it in stock, you have to wait a very long time. But this tape is worth the wait. WORKERS has ordered a large amount of stock. (We are currently producing black-dyed tape as well.) Meeting this new factory has made things different from before. We aimed for the highest quality we could produce right now.
