OPANAK
Founded in 1935 in Serbia, southeastern Europe.
The brand was started by Mita Gaga and the Čekic brothers, highly skilled artisans in a workshop that makes "opanaks," pointed leather shoes that are part of Serbian national dress.
At a time when leather shoes were the norm, developing shoes made from natural rubber was a groundbreaking attempt at the time.
These shoes were waterproof, easy to care for, and non-slip, and became a huge hit among farmers.
OPANAK has grown into a national brand known as "farmer's shoes" in Serbia.
More than a quarter of a century has passed since its introduction, and it continues to be made by artisans with almost no changes to its shape, and continues to be loved by people.
The classic yet modern design is popular among fashionistas.
