WORKERS Lot 802 Slim Tapered Jeans 13.75 oz American Cotton 100%, Raw Denim

Lot 802 features a slightly narrower hem and a tapered, modern silhouette for a clean look. The denim uses American Upland cotton for both the warp and weft. We started making these jeans with the simple idea that "basic jeans should be made from yarn woven with only American cotton!", but we couldn't find any standard 100% American cotton yarn! So we decided to make the yarn ourselves! (Although it produced a tremendous amount.) Upland cotton is an extremely basic type of cotton. We imported it to Japan and scanned the shape of the uneven yarn seen in vintage jeans to determine the yarn shape. We also controlled the unevenness so that it wasn't too strong. The finished yarn was rope-dyed. Pure indigo dyeing without pre-dyeing or post-dyeing. A characteristic of this color is that it has relatively little red and a strong blue tint. Furthermore, the fabric is woven on a power loom with selvedge edges. Weaving at low tension gives it a fluffy texture and prevents the yarn, and even the cotton itself, from losing its original character. The finished fabric is raw denim that has not undergone shrinkage prevention or singeing to remove fuzz. It is characterized by shrinking and twisting when washed. However, before shipping, it is washed and dried in a dryer to shrink it as much as possible. There are two patterns: straight Lot 801 and slim tapered Lot 802. The hem width is the same for about 10 centimeters from the bottom, so the hem width will not change even if the length is shortened up to about 30 inches. All sewing is done with cotton thread. Thick thread is used for the side seams, the so-called "crotch" where the left and right body pieces are joined, the yoke, and the waistband. This specification is to give strength to the cotton thread, but as a result, it creates the uneven fading of the selvedge and the strong puckering of the yoke. When making jeans from scratch this time, the focus was on "basicity". To create a classic feel, there are also methods of mixing cotton other than American cotton, such as Peruvian or Indian cotton. Even with indigo dyeing, there are methods to create a different look from pure indigo through pre-dyeing, but I chose not to do that and stuck to American cotton and pure indigo. As a result, the finished color is a strong blue, just as I envisioned.
