Description
We have received a new shipment of the "Est" pullover shirt from "intch.", made from "Higashi-daki" cotton Burberry cloth.
This piece is a reinterpretation of a vintage farmer's smock, incorporating stylish details.
The front features four buttons and a half-placket, with a box pleat connecting from the opening, and the back yoke and cuffs have gathers, making it a time-consuming design.
The design, which follows French antiques from the early 1900s, and the fabric, which is made by reproducing the techniques of Edo-period Japan, beautifully combine different countries and eras to create a shirt that is uniquely intch.
Cotton Burberry cloth, still dyed in the old downtown area of Tokyo using traditional dyeing machines and techniques, disregards production efficiency.
While dyeing technology has improved and many factories can now produce consistent dyes, this product is finished using a special technique passed down from the Edo period, which involves boiling cotton, which is originally considered difficult to dye, in a small vat to give it volume before applying the color.
This material has a very distinctive character, with its slightly worn, natural texture and color, its puffiness, randomly etched large and small wrinkles, and its unique bumpy feel.
The stitching is done with 21 stitches per inch, and the thread used is 60-count.
While high-end dress shirts typically have around 18 stitches per 3cm, this shirt features 21 stitches, achieving even finer stitching.
The finer the stitching, the more delicate the technique required, and the number of sewing machines capable of handling it becomes limited.
To achieve these specifications, the shirts are sewn in Nagasaki, one of Japan's leading shirt-making factories, equipped with skilled craftsmen and specialized equipment.
Not only are the workers highly skilled, but they also adapt their sewing methods based on a vast amount of past sewing data, changing the sewing techniques according to the fabric and design. This factory is a top-level example that symbolizes the high level of Japanese technology.
They possess the reliable skills and sensibilities of seasoned professionals, as well as unique sewing equipment found nowhere else.
On the other hand, they don't engage in aggressive PR, only accept work through referrals from trusted business partners, and produce for only a limited number of brands.
We engage in environmentally conscious and sustainable manufacturing, rather than mass production and mass consumption.
While it's designed to be wider than typical Japanese sizes, it's not so oversized that it's considered a "big silhouette," and the length isn't too long, making it a perfect size that looks great on its own and is easy to layer.
【intch.】 Launched in 2023, this domestic brand's design concept is "last detail, modest, atmos" (subtle, moderate, emotional), and it offers high-quality products with a focus on materials.
