Description
This is an original fabric made with washi paper yarn for the warp and hemp yarn for the weft. It is believed that cloth made from washi paper already existed in the Nara period, and was used for clothing as "paper cloth," which was made by tearing paper into thin strips and weaving it.
In modern times, technology has advanced to process it into thread, and it is now passed down as lightweight yet strong washi paper thread.
The yarn used is OJO from Oji Fiber, which is a filament yarn made by slitting washi paper (Japanese paper) made from Manila hemp from Ecuador into a thickness of less than 1 mm and twisting it.
It is lightweight, has minimal pilling, and offers excellent quick-drying properties and strength.
By combining the firmness of washi paper with the flexibility of hemp, we have created a texture that is both uniquely wrinkled and supple.
This shirt features a comfortably oversized silhouette with a slightly shorter length.
To preserve the natural wrinkles and texture of the fabric, we minimize visible stitching in areas where strength is not required.
The ends of the cuffs are folded and sewn in place, mimicking the way paper is folded, making it easier to find the correct button position by feel without having to look when opening and closing the cuff buttons.
The buttons are made from compressed cotton material and are dyed along with the fabric during the garment dyeing process.
*Please note that natural materials may have knots and unevenness in the yarn. This is because we prioritize texture and use raw materials with uneven fiber lengths, so please consider this as part of the product's appearance.
Please be careful not to pull on the knots in the threads, as this may cause the fabric to break and create holes.
*Due to the washing process after sewing, each item will have slight variations in color and size. (White) *Dyed with a dark color.
To avoid color transfer, please refrain from combining this item with light-colored items.
To prevent color fading, use a detergent for dry-clean only and dry in the shade.
Due to post-processing, each item will have slight variations in color and size. (Dark Blue, Charcoal Black, Black)
Outer fabric composition: Unclassified fibers (Japanese paper) 58%, Plant fibers (Hemp) 42%
Outer fabric raw materials: Ecuador (Japanese paper), China (hemp)
Outer fabric spinning: Japan (washi paper), China (hemp)
Outer fabric weaving: Aichi, Ichinomiya; finishing processing: Aichi, Ichinomiya; sewing: Oita, Takeda; dyeing: Tokyo, Bunkyo (dark blue, charcoal black, black)
