Introducing orslow's classic TYPE1 40'S PLEATED FRONT BLOUSE one wash. In the 1940s, when denim jackets were not yet called "jeans," they were called "pleated blouses." The front pleats are a nod to the 1800s. Fabric that is not treated with shrink-proofing after weaving tends to shrink vertically, and it is said that in the 1800s, fabric was sewn horizontally so that if it shrunk after washing, the pleats could be undone to widen the garment. Even after the fabric was made to run vertically, the design remained and is still carried on today as the front pleat design. Denim from the 1940s tends to have longer vertical unevenness than denim from later years. It's not clear if this is because the fibers break down differently depending on whether the raw cotton was hand-picked or machine-picked, but the unevenness looks different between denim from before the 1940s and denim from the 1950s. The original denim used for orslow6011 is made from a material with longer vertical unevenness than other denim. The back is a thong design for sizes 3 and above. This was thought to be a way to make better use of fabric for larger sizes in an era when things were precious and everything was used without waste. It is commonly known as "T-back" by vintage enthusiasts. The silhouette, yoke, sleeve seam positions, etc. are faithfully reproduced to VINTAGE from the 1940s. The sleeves are set-in, and there is one chest pocket with a flap on the left. The double action pleats on the front are designed to allow for ease of movement but are also an important design accent. The waist cinch belt is adjustable, and it creates a striking back style. Based on the so-called "first model," the length and pocket position have been designed to match modern styles. The fabric used is woven using the same method as over 60 years ago, with the aim of expressing the unique atmosphere of old cloth. As a result, it has unique neps (knots) and twists that are not found in modern materials.
