WORKERS Lot 801 Straight Jeans Black

After years of requests, we've finally created Lot 801, a straight-leg black jeans. As is custom-known with WORKERS, we've used "custom-made cotton"—medium-staple American cotton with a slub yarn based on the yarn texture of vintage jeans. The warp threads are sulfur-dyed, while the weft threads are the natural color of the cotton. We aimed for a weight of approximately 13.75 ounces, and adjusted the thread count accordingly. With repeated washing, the black threads will fade to gray. Unlike indigo, black is dyed to the core, so it doesn't fade in a stark, "crisp" way, but rather evenly. However, areas that rub will whiten, so selvedge fading will appear. We apologize, but we are raising the price of black jeans this season. The reason is the difference in fabric cost compared to indigo. Indigo is dyed in large quantities using a method called "rope dyeing," which keeps the unit cost down to some extent. In contrast, black is dyed using a method called "cheese dyeing," where the yarn is softly rewound and dyed in a kiln. This dyeing process is extremely expensive! The fabric costs 1.5 times more than indigo. Until now, we've been forcing ourselves to produce indigo and black at the same price, but from September 2022, the price for both 801 and 802 in black will change to 20,000 yen + tax. Black bottoms are incredibly versatile and go well with almost anything. They pair well with indigo denim jackets, military-style tops, and even tweed jackets. After washing, the color becomes closer to charcoal, making them even easier to coordinate. The product is pre-washed.
