COW SKIN ABOUT LEATHER: We used aniline-finished cowhide leather and selected the right thickness to ensure the bag's shape is well-defined. Although the bag is lightweight, it still maintains a sturdy shape. It features the natural texture of leather and its appeal lies in the fact that it becomes softer and changes over time with each use. We selected leather with an appropriate thickness to ensure the bag maintains its shape, using aniline-finished cowhide. While the weight is kept light, the bag retains a sturdy form. Chagu Chagu Umako was born from the "horse-loving spirit" typified by the Nanbu Magari family of Iwate, when horses were still used for farm work. It originated as an event set aside as the only day of rest during the busy farming season. CCU pays homage to the spirit of horse-loving and aims to create a timeless product that will make you grow fonder with each use. Based on the concept of "LEATHER-COMFORTALE-PRODUCT," the brand selects soft leather materials that dispel the conventional image of leather as being stiff and difficult to wear, and creates patterns that respect the space between the human body and the leather. The items mainly consist of shirts, and the lineup includes leather items that can be worn in everyday life. The brand name CCU originates from the festival called 'Chagu Chagu Umako,' a traditional event in Iwate where horses adorned in elaborate harnesses proceed ceremoniously. Chagu Chagu Umako began about 200 years ago as a celebration to honor horses, allowing farmers to give their horses a day off after the rigors of rice-planting and to pray for their health at the shrine. CCU aims to create versatile products that honor this spirit of equine love, designed to deepen the bond with horses with every use. Under the concept of 'LEATHER-COMFORTABLE-PRODUCT,' the company selects soft leather materials that defy the conventional perception of leather as stiff and uncomfortable. Our approach includes meticulous patternmaking that considers the space between the human body and the leather.
